Antique Restoration and Furniture Repair
Serving the Greater New Orleans and Northshore Area

Who are we and what do people say about us?

Heirloom Restored are Dewey and Joanne Crosby, a transatlantic couple who love the creativity of refurbishment and renovating furniture and making other craft items together. Dewey is a master woodworker with an eye for detail and the original 'Mr Fixit'. He has for over three decades been lovingly restoring, repairing, and refinishing furniture and antiques, in addition to fabricating his own furniture, windows, and doors as well as other speciality woodcrafts. Even as a child he was always most at home in his grandfather's workshop or helping his dad with projects around the home.

Dewey uses a variety of techniques when restoring and refinishing furniture, blending both the traditions of master craftsmen of the past and modern technology, while drawing on his extensive knowledge of wood and finishes. His approach is friendly, professional, and service oriented, with his mantra being 'unless the customer is happy, I'm not happy'. For Dewey giving a loved piece of furniture a fresh lease of life is a joy, he is passionate about woodcraft and loves the challenge of restoring a piece. The customer's needs always come first and before starting a project Dewey likes a detailed consultation to ensure that the finish and products are appropriate for the piece and needs of the client, while following the intent of the original craftsman.

Joanne is 'Little Miss Crafts' who has spent her adult life remodeling old English houses and loves upholstery, decorating, and crafting in general. She loves the concept of 'reloving' furniture by giving it a new lease of life via traditional restoring/refinishing or getting her paint brush out and making it 'shabby chic'.

Awesome job! (MacKenzie A)

The wicker table looks better than ever! Thank you so much for the quality workmanship. (Celine H)

We have so enjoyed the furniture you have beautifully restored! I have gotten so many compliments from many family and friends and have highly recommended you ... Thank you so much for such a professional and beautiful job on the furniture. (Karen D)

Very nice people to work with and good job on refinishing my dresser. (Margie F)

I am so happy to have found you guys, and look forward to working with you again. (Maria B)

I wanted to express how pleased I am with my dining set. The set has been with me since I was a little girl (and I'm 57 now). It has been passed from one sibling to another and endured abuse from my children who are now grown, and my brothers children... It is absolutely beautiful, and I hope to pass it down to my children and grandchildren. I have other pieces that don't really have sentimental value, but were antique when I bought them and would love to have you work your magic on them sometime in the future. (Beth R)

I had an old rocking chair that was literally falling apart. Mr. Dewey took the chair and returned it in wonderful condition. What was once a creaky old thing is now a new addition to my living room. I highly recommend Heirloom Restored and would use him again. (Susan S)

Great service, timely return, and a lovely piece of furniture restored resulted. (MJ T)

I have had a mahogany table, ebony African figurines, an antique dresser, antique wooden sconces & an antique coffee table repaired, refinished & restored by Mr. Crosby. He is a true skilled craftsman & delivers service excellence! I strongly recommend him for any wood work restoration project. He definitely delivers on customer satisfaction! (Araly M)

I couldn't be more happy with the shabby chic piano bench I purchased for my daughter's room. It arrived safe and sound and was so much more than I expected. The finish and fabric the top was covered in were both pleasant surprises as their picture did not do them justice. (Teressa D)

  • Over 30 years of experience in quality woodcraft, furniture refinishing, restoration, and repair

We are particular about detail, and willing to 'go that extra inch' to source that missing bit of hardware or match a finish. We maintain a detailed database of previous projects, including stains and finishes used, to refer to should you want to use the same finish again.

  • Restoring furniture is good value

You'll be surprised at what can be refinished or restored and how highly affordable it can be compared to buying brand-new furniture. We have restored objects, which might, at first glance, appear to be beyond restoration (please see our Restorations page). We use many traditional methods but also have a well-equipped professional workshop with low overheads giving savings to pass onto you.

  • Family owned company, dedicated to providing high-quality services, and customer care

Our motto is 'we treat your family heirlooms as if they are our own'; as a small company we treat you as an individual to give you quality service. Before the start of a project we have a detailed consultation with you to ensure that the final restoration meets your expectations.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you offer pick up and delivery?

    Yes, that can be arranged.

  • Do you offer museum-quality antique restoration?

No, that's not my speciality. I believe furniture ought to be used throughout generations. That's the reason it was crafted by an artisan in the first place. I always have a detailed consultation with a client to ensure that any furniture refinishing and repair will meet their needs.

  • What is the geographic area that you would provide service to?

I would say any area within 100 miles radius of Slidell, LA 70458.

  • What if I have a picture of what I want crafted, can you work from that?

Yes, happy to, as long as I have full details of your requirements as regards the dimensions and type of wood and finish.

  • Do you offer on-site restoration?

I prefer not, because I can control the quality of my product within my environment. Also, this way the customer is not exposed to excess noise, dust, and/or chemicals.

  • Do you restore other things than just furniture?

Yes, I've restored street signs, wooden boat hatches, and of all things, a 10' fiberglass dingy.

  • If I send a picture, can you give me an estimate of the restoration?

Yes. Simply use the contact us link. When the page loads, use the "Browse" button to upload up to 5 pictures of what you want me to give as estimate on.
